Prince Gabriel of Sweden's christening date announced

Prince Gabriel of Sweden's christening date announced

The Swedish Royal Court announced this morning that His Royal Highness Prince Gabriel of Sweden would be christening on 1 December in the Royal Chapel of Drottningholm Palace.

Big brother, one-year-old Prince Alexander, and cousins, three-year-old Princess Leonore and two-year-old Prince Nicolas were also christened in the same chapel.

It is expected that Princess Madeleine, the younger sister of Prince Carl Philip, and Sara Hellqvist, the younger sister of Princess Sofia, will be two of his godparents.

He will wear the traditional Swedish christening gown that his four older cousins and older brother wore at their christenings. The water used in the baptism will be from a spring in Öland. His Majesty will also present his youngest grandson with the Royal Order of the Seraphim during the service.

More information about the christening will be released in due course.

Prince Carl Walther was born on 31 August 2017 at Danderyd Hospital at 11:24 am. The new prince weighs 3400 g and is 49cm long.

Proud grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf announced that the second child of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia would be named Gabriel Carl Walther and hold the Duchy of Darlana. His full title is His Royal Highness Prince Gabriel Carl Walther of Sweden, Duke of Darlana. He announced this at a cabinet meeting on 4 September alongside Crown Princess Victoria.

The Prince’s names come from his paternal grandfather, the King and paternal great-grandfather, Walther (the father of Queen Silvia). Darlana is the area where Princess Sofia grew up.

Official family pictures of the almost one-month-old Prince with his parents and brother have yet to be released. However, the Royal Court released an image of Gabriel in his car seat after leaving hospital, and another photo of the little royal was release later, taken by proud dad, Prince Carl Philip.

Family photos are expecting in the coming days.
