Crown Prince Frederik's Visit to China, Days 1 and 2

On Saturday, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark started his visit to China. The Crown Prince will carry out a number of representation tasks on behalf of the Danish state and the Danish Royal Family. The tour lasts until Tuesday and is made to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties between the Kingdom of Denmark and China.

On Saturday, the visit began at the Sino-Nordic Cup football tournament. The Crown Prince attended the kick-off finale in the tournament. The Sino-Nordic Cup is an annual Nordic-Chinese football tournament organised by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The competition aims to strengthen contact and cooperation between China and the Nordic countries of Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

After this, His Royal Highness attended the official opening of the exhibition “A Royal Modern Household” in the Danish Culture Centre in Beijing’s Art District. Through pictures, the exhibit showed off the restoration of Frederik VIII’s Palace in Copenhagen. In connection with the opening, Crown Prince Frederik participated in a small reception and a short tour of the cultural centre. The first day of the visit was concluded with dinner at the Danish ambassador residence for Danish companies, organisations and Danish society in China.

Yesterday, the day began at the Tsinghua University; the Crown Prince opened the seminar “Educating the Leaders of Tomorrow – Play, Creativity and Social Values,” focusing on innovation, creativity and lifelong learning. From the Chinese side, representatives from authorities and research groups participated.

During the His Royal Highness’s visit to Tsinghua University, the research project and the laboratory Tsinghua Life Long Learning Lab (TULLL), designed for research into children’s creativity and lifelong learning, was shown to him. The laboratory has been developed in collaboration with the LEGO Foundation and examines, inter alia, how children can solve specific tasks through different learning methods.

During the afternoon, the Crown Prince participated in a kick-start event for Copenhagen’s guest visit at Beijing Design Week 2018. After this, he attended a dinner at “The George” organised by the City of Copenhagen.

Today, the Crown Prince will visit the Chinese Wall, and on Tuesday, His Royal Highness will visit Changzhou Island.
