King of Thailand Donates Pet Food To Woman Caring for 43 Strays

The King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn, has donated a significant amount of dog food to a woman who cares for over 40 stray dogs in the capital district of Thailand’s Samut Songkhram Province.

58-year-old Wandee Moongkhamen cares for 43 stray dogs. The pet food was presented in a temple by the Royal Thai Airforce Major General Thawatchai Srikaew.

Also attending the ceremony was the provincial governor of Samut Songkhram and the head of the provinces livestock development office.

As the pet food was presented to her, Wandee had tears in her eyes as she expressed her gratitude towards the King of Thailand’s kindness.

The Major General also visited the Wandee Moongkhamem animal shelter. The shelter recently moved to a new plot of land which belongs to businessman Uthai Damrongthasm.

The businessman essentially saved Wandee as she was facing eviction. The owner of her previous land gave her 20 days to pack up and leave.

Thankfully, Uthai will provide tap water and electricity free of charge in the new plot of land on the condition that the dogs are neutered and given vaccines or rabies.

A house for Wandee, who works as a cleaner, is currently under construction.

The local government will also be providing 50 kilograms of rice every month for the dogs, and the livestock development office will provide vaccines, sterilisation services, and vet treatment.

Wandee was evicted from her previous plot of land after the owner said she was “causing trouble.” She stayed there with no electricity or water. Upon being evicted, Wandee said she had no place to go.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn ascended to the throne last October following the death of his much-loved father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

King Bhumibol was revered amongst his people during a seven-decade reign for the sense of stability he brought to the country which had been rocked by political instability.
