Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia opens health conference in Belgrade

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia

On Thursday of last week, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia officially opened the SINERGY 2017 Conference. The SINERGY Conference is hosted by the Clinical Centre of Serbia, with the participation of eminent experts from all over the world at the Hyatt Regency Belgrade.

Her Royal Highness was accompanied by Mrs Natasa Davidov, member of the board of Lifeline United Kingdom Humanitarian Organisation whose patron is Crown Princess Katherine. More than 40 distinguished lecturers from Europe, India, China and Japan, as well as more than 30 experts from Serbia attended the conference.

In her opening speech, Her Royal Highness said: “I am glad that this conference is organised in cooperation with several health institutions in Belgrade that work in the field of interventional cardiology and imaging. I am also very glad that you cooperate with top cardiology centres in the world and that you have a large number of foreign experts as your guests at this conference.”

The Crown Princess has always been committed to humanitarian problems and devoted all her life to improving the conditions for poor and sick Serbians. In an interview with Royal Central this summer, Her Royal Highness said: “I am very happy that I have this opportunity. I had parents that taught me the joy of giving, not the joy of taking. And they didn’t just tell me; they lived their life by giving.”

This summer Crown Princess Katherine donated sterilisation medical equipment to the value of more than 1.4 million US dollars to hospitals all over Serbia. This was so far the largest donations ever made by the Serbian Royal Family to the Serbian people.

In 1993, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine founded the Lifeline Humanitarian Organisation which currently has offices in Chicago, New York, Toronto, London and Athens. This organisation, together with “HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation,” works to collect money for medical equipment to be delivered to numerous hospitals in Serbia.
