Bookmakers Suspend Bets on Third Child for Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

While only an official announcement from Kensington Palace could confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child, hopes have risen when bookies suspended bets on the couple sharing the happy news.

On Friday, Bookmaker Coral stopped taking bets, which were down to 1-3, after a surge of bets came in first reported the Express.

“This latest gamble suggests to us that Kate and William could be set to make an announcement soon that they are expecting a third child, therefore, we have pulled the plug on the market to allow the dust to settle,” said Coral’s John Hill.

They are, however, still taking bets on if they will be having a boy or girl with a boy pulling in front at odds of 10-11.

Hill continued: “We have opened betting on the gender of the third child where boy is the favourite, while we have taken bets on Kate giving birth to twins and triplets.”

Coral are not the only bookies in on the action; Paddy Power has a range of baby names on the table.

Popular choices are Victoria at 8-1, Alice at 8-1, Henry at 10-1 and Arthur at 10-1, which were all popular picks at the time of the births of the Cambridge’s first two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Christopher, Thomas, Georgina, Emma, and Harriet also have money down on them but with odds of 66-1.

Even if the Duke and Duchess aren’t ready to add a third child to their family, another royal couple is!

On 27th August, Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her husband Christopher O’Neill announced via Madeleine’s Facebook page that they are expecting their third child, saying: “Chris and I are thrilled to announce that I am expecting. We look forward to four becoming five!”

The Swedish Royal Court added on that Madeleine is feeling well and the newest royal baby is due March 2018.
