Queen's Sandringham Estate
Queen's Sandringham Estate
Two people have died after a light aircraft crashed on The Queen’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on Monday morning.

The male pilot, who was in his 50s, and a female passenger in her 70s, were pronounced dead at the scene when the plane came down in the village of Wolferton on the estate.

No other persons were injured, and the Air Accident Investigation Branch has launched an investigation into the circumstances and cause of the accident.

Wolferton lies within the Sandringham Estate and is about seven miles from the Norfolk Coast.

The police, coastguard, fire and rescue service, and ambulance service all attended the scene. An air ambulance was also dispatched.

The Queen and members of The Royal Family were not in residence in Sandringham at the time. Her Majesty is still in Balmoral for her summer holiday and will return to London later this month.
