Princess Marie-Gabrielle and Antonius Willms marry in religious ceremony |
Princess Marie-Gabrielle of Nassau and Antonius Willms married in a religious ceremony conducted by Father Paul Habsburg in the Iglesia del Santo Cristo in Marbella, Spain, on Saturday. They married in a civil ceremony in Luxembourg on Monday 15 May.
Close to 300 friends and family members attended including the Grand Duke and Duchess, Hereditary Grand Duke and Duchess, Prince Félix and Princess Claire, Prince Louis and his sons Princes Gabriel and Noah, Princess Alexandra, Prince Nikolaus and Princess Margaretha of Liechtenstein, Prince Konstantin of Bavaria and Prince Amedeo and Princess Elisabetta of Belgium.
Princess Marie-Gabrielle wore a white wedding gown designed by Lorenzo Caprile and the Grand Duchess Adelaide Tiara. The gown reportedly had 10,000 Swarovski crystals and 5,000 flowers incorporated into the dress. She was escorted down the aisle by her father, Prince Jean.
On Friday night, a pre-wedding party was held in honour of Marie-Gabrielle and Antonius. Many members of the Grand Ducal Family were in attendance on Friday evening, as well.
The couple explained to El Español why they chose Marbella as the location for their wedding saying, “We have loved the idea of getting married in a place that we know will always come back to.” They reportedly spend a significant amount of time in the country.
Princess Marie-Gabrielle is the eldest child and only daughter of Prince Jean of Luxembourg and his former wife, Hélène Vestur. She was born in Paris. Prince Jean is the second son of Jean, Grand Duke of Luxembourg and Princess Joséphine-Charlotte of Belgium and the younger brother of Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg. He gave up his succession rights in 1986.
Antonius Willms is the son of Hayo Wilms and Countess Maria Theresia von Goëss. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States and he lived in Luxembourg for several years as his father worked in finance. Princess Marie-Gabrielle and Antonius Willms currently live in Munich, Germany.
