Princess Beatrice speaks at the United Nations event in New York

Princess Beatrice made a speech at a United Nations event on Thursday in New York.

Her Royal Highness took to the stage at a WE Day UN, an event which is held in major cities across the world for school children.

The Princess said: “I’ve had the pleasure to take to the WE Day stage several times and I can tell you first hand that the WE movement is a powerful and global force for good.”

Princess Beatrice, who is the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, has spoken at WE Day events every year since 2014.

According to their website, WE is a “movement that brings people together and gives them the tools to change the world.”

The charity aims to empower communities to lift themselves out of poverty through their holistic, sustainable international development model.

Other speakers who took to the stage at the event included Whoopi Goldberg, Justin Trudeau, Chelsea Clinton and Jordan Fisher.

WE Days are held each year in the UK, Canada and the US, and Princess Beatrice has spoken at these events since 2014. The occasions celebrate young people who are making a difference in their local and global communities.

Speaking last year, the founder of WE Day, Craig Kielburger said: “Every year, 200,000 students around the world, from over 10,000 schools, earn their tickets to WE Day through the yearlong WE Schools programme, creating tangible benefits for the community they serve and demonstrating positive long-term social impacts. WE Day UK will unite and celebrate 12,000 young leaders who are working together to support local and global charities in line with causes they care about most.”
