The Swedish Royal Court released the first official picture of Prince Gabriel yesterday. The picture shows the little Prince sleeping under his blanket.

On 31 August, the Swedish Royal Family announced with great joy the arrival of their newest member. Princess Sofia of Sweden gave birth to her second son at Danderyd Hospital at 11:24 am. The little boy weighed 3,400 grams and measured 49 centimetres. Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia's baby was due in September, so the little one was a little bit early. Yesterday, the Court released the first picture of Gabriel Carl Walther. His father took the picture showing the five days old asleep under his blanket. The photo was taken at Villa Solbacken, the new home of the Prince Family.

The picture came one day after his proud grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf announced his new grandson's name. The name was announced during a cabinet meeting attended by the King and Crown Princess Victoria. The meeting was followed by a Te Deum mass to celebrate the birth of Gabriel Carl Walther, Duke of Dalarna. King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Madeleine, Chris O'Neill, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Christina and Sofia's parents, siblings and grandmother attended the Te Deum among others.

Princess Sofia will remain on maternity leave for a couple of months. It is unclear when she will return to official duties. She will enjoy some time off to spend with her sons Prince Alexander (1) and Prince Gabriel. Prince Carl Philip will continue working.

The little Prince is expected to be christened in a few months. Nothing has been arranged yet as it is too soon, but the baptism is likely to take place in three to four months. At the christening, the godparents will also be announced. Aunts Princess Madeleine and Sara Hellqvist are expected be among the godmothers.

Recently, it was also revealed that Princess Madeleine would give birth to her third child in March 2018. The baby boom in the Swedish Royal Family is not over yet!
