The Christening Of Prince Nicolas: New Details

The Christening Of Prince Nicolas: New Details

Prince Nicolas will be baptized on October 11 at 12 am at the Royal Chapel of Drottningholm Palace (Drottningholm Slott). The baptism will last 45 minutes.

Prince Nicolas will be baptized by the new archbishop Antje Jackelén. She will be assisted by the chaplain: Bishop Emeritus Lars-Göran Lönnermark and by the pastor of the Royal Academy/Court Parish/regular chaplain: Michael Bjerkhagen.

Prince Nicolas will be christened in the same christening gown as Princess Estelle, Princess Leonore and the other members of the Bernadotte family. Prince Nicolas's name will be embroidered in the gown.

Prince Nicolas will be christened with water from a spring on Öland.

The guests consist of the immediate family (the King, Queen, Crown Princess, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine, Chris O'Neill, Princess Leonore, and Chris's family) and representatives of the parliament and government of Sweden. 160 guests are expected to come. Guests are expected to arrive at 11 am and to find their seats before 11.40 am.

Prince Nicolas will have 6 godparents like his sister Leonore. Prince Carl Philip is confirmed to be godfather.
The dress code of the baptism is morning dress.

After the ceremony, there will be a reception for invited guests followed by a private lunch. The reception starts at 13.15–14.30.
To mark the start of the baptism, a canon salute of 21 shots will be fired at Amfibieregementet.

Princess Madeleine and Chris O'Neill ask their guests to donate to the World Childhood Foundation or Min Stora Dag. The Princess has a very close bound with the charities.

Prince Nicolas will become a member of the Royal Order of the Seraphim. Just like his sister, he will receive the smaller badge and sash. He will only wear the order during the baptism. When Prince Nicolas turns 18, he's allowed to wear the order at official engagements.

After the baptism, Prince Nicolas's monogram and coat of arms will be released.
